COLUMBUS, OH — Today, Americans for Prosperity-Ohio (AFP-OH) applauded the advancement of a bill in the House Energy Committee introduced by State Representative Roy Klopefenstein to improve energy reliability and affordability across Ohio by removing anti-competitive regulations in the energy sector.
AFP-OH supports a free-market approach to energy production in Ohio, so that providers can compete to provide the most affordable and reliable service to Ohioans. After years of the government picking winners and losers in the energy sector, this bill marks an important step toward creating energy abundance by removing government red tape and subsidies.
Donovan O’Neil, AFP-OH State Director, gave the following statement:
“We’re grateful to Rep. Klopfenstein for making energy a top priority in this year’s session so that Ohio can continue growing into a power hub for the Midwest.
“This legislation is an important milestone in Ohio’s deregulation efforts that began over two decades ago.
“As the House Energy Committee debates this legislation, AFP-OH encourages the members of the committee to review our Good Energy Policy for Ohio report, which lays out the groundwork for future reforms that will help Ohio lead the way in energy innovation and economic growth.”
