MEDIA ADVISORY: Americans for Prosperity to Host Discussion on Need to Stop Gov. From Getting in Way of Patients Health Care in SC, Calls for Citizen Action

Oct 20, 2021 by AFP

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Tomorrow, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) will host its second Health Care Anywhere event in Spartanburg where the grassroots group will discuss how the government is getting in the way of South Carolinians accessing quality health care and what citizens can do to put a stop to it. RSVPed media are welcome to attend.

WHO: Americans for Prosperity State Director Candace Carroll and State Senator Josh Kimbrell

WHAT: Discussion will focus on the immediate opportunity that exist with S. 290 to fully repeal of Certificate of Need (CON) in South Carolina

WHERE: The Beacon Drive-In (225 John B. White, Sr. Boulevard, Spartanburg SC 29306)

WHEN: Thursday, October 21st from 6-7:30PM

BACKGROUND: Certificate of Need Laws often impose unnecessary barriers to quality, affordable health care by requiring providers to gain government approval to open or expand facilities or offer new services. These laws often allow existing providers to object to new would-be competitors and use their incumbency status to influence government decision-making.
