The Best Way to Cut Emissions: The Free Market

Mar 29, 2016 by AFP

By now, you’ve heard that the Obama Administration’s “Clean Power Plan” would cut carbon emissions.

What you probably haven’t heard is that emissions already have been dropping – mostly thanks to market forces.

The administration’s agenda to vastly expand control of the energy grid would cut carbon emissions by a third by the year 2030. But the fact of the matter is, emissions were already cut by about 15 percent in the seven years between 2005 to 2012 – without any radical takeover like the EPA’s current plan.

Instead of allowing the market to continue to move toward more efficient forms of energy and allowing businesses and entrepreneurs to innovate and create new technologies, the president’s plan introduces economy-crushing mandates, right alongside his favored mandates to politically-connected “green” energy outfits.

Tell your legislator how you feel about this radical agenda by sending them a message here.
