Americans for Prosperity Urges Suspending CON Laws

Feb 16, 2021 by AFP

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Americans for Prosperity-West Virginia (AFP-WV) today commended lawmakers in the House for extending reforms to expand health care access and passing HB 2264, a bill that will permanently lift some burdensome Certificate of Need (CON) restrictions across the state.

AFP-WV State Director Jason Huffman issued the following statement:

“Suspending CON laws for hospitals will not only help reduce the burden of our state’s health care system during this crisis but will empower providers to deliver quality and affordable health care to more patients in the future. While lawmakers are right to support this crucial reform, they should take further steps to eliminate all CON laws in the Mountain State. Red tape should not come before our state’s health care needs. We thank the House for supporting HB 2264 and urge the Senate to pass this legislation without delay.”

AFP-WV recently issued a key vote alert urging lawmakers to support HB 2264.
