Americans for Prosperity-Texas Responds to Gov. Abbott Press Conference, Applauds Focus on Pre-Trial Reform

DALLAS, TX—Americans for Prosperity-Texas (AFP-TX) today released a statement responding to Governor Greg Abbott’s press conference outlining key priorities for the 2021 Legislative Session. Prior to the start of session, AFP-TX partnered with several key leaders in the Lone Star State to ask for Gov. Abbott’s prioritization of pre-trial reform.

AFP-TX Acting State Director Mack Morris issued the following statement:

“Our activists across the great state of Texas are encouraged by Governor Abbott’s swift leadership in tackling an important issue plaguing our communities: a smarter on crime, softer on taxpayers’ approach to criminal justice reform. We applaud Gov. Abbott for continuing to make Texas a national leader on criminal justice reform and look forward to the legislatures’ resolve in pre-trial reforms that will make our communities safer and prioritize public safety, rather than ability for individuals to pay.”
