Americans for Prosperity: Taxpayer-Funded Sports Arenas are a Boondoggle

“Nashville has more pressing issues than paying billions of dollars to replace a perfectly good stadium for billionaires.”

NASHVILLE, TN — Americans for Prosperity – Tennessee (AFP-TN) today urged local government officials to reject proposals to spend up to billions of taxpayer dollars on upgrading or replacing the Titans’ stadium. Recent reports that found talks have expanded from the city footing the bill for upgrades to potentially an entirely new stadium.

AFP-TN State Director Tori Venable released the following statement:

“Nashville has more pressing issues than paying billions of dollars to replace a perfectly good stadium for billionaires. Taxpayer-funded sports arenas are a boondoggle, and Tennesseans know it. I hope city officials recognize this and reject this greedy attempt to spend taxpayer money.”
