Americans for Prosperity Reacts to Call for Virginia Special Session

Mar 9, 2018 by AFP

Richmond, Va. – Americans for Prosperity-Virginia State Director JC Hernandez, on behalf of hundreds of thousands Virginians, issued the following statement in response to calls for a special session:

“The House of Delegates can’t pass a budget because they recklessly insist on forcing Obamacare into the budget despite its detrimental effects. These Washington-style tactics have no place in Richmond and a special session is a waste of time and taxpayer money. The General Assembly could have simply passed a clean budget. Instead, Virginia counties, teachers, sheriffs, public workers and our students must wait for a budget that is delayed due to Obamacare.”

“Congress and the Trump Administration unambiguously oppose Obamacare Medicaid expansion.  If Medicaid expansion isn’t in the President’s budget, it shouldn’t be in Virginia’s. The House’s irresponsible fixation on including Medicaid expansion in the budget is leading us to a government shutdown. This is unacceptable.”
