AFP-PA Commends State House Judiciary Committee for Passing Occupational Licensure, Probation Reforms

Dec 9, 2019 by AFP

HARRISBURG, PA – Americans for Prosperity – Pennsylvania (AFP-PA) today thanked the Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee for passing House Bills 1555, 440 and 1477, which will help to provide more pathways for individuals to complete their probation and parole, redirects state resources towards high-risk cases and affords greater opportunities for employment for individuals with criminal records. Current Pennsylvania correction and occupational licensing laws and regulations inhibit individuals with criminal backgrounds from fully realizing their potential.

AFP-PA State Director Ashley Klingensmith issued the following statement:

“Today, the Pennsylvania House took positive steps to move its probation and regulatory systems in the right direction. Whether it be through gainful employment in licensed occupations or reasonable probation terms, the reporting of these bills out of committee provides the first steps toward creating more opportunities for Pennsylvanians aiming to turn their lives around.”
