Grassroots group applauds Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination to Supreme Court, urges swift senate confirmation

ST. PAUL, MN – Americans for Prosperity-Minnesota (AFP-MN) released a statement Tuesday applauding President Trump for nominating Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States and urged the Senate to swiftly confirm the nominee. Americans for Prosperity will commit seven-figures to paid advertising and grassroots engagement in support of Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

AFP-MN State Director Jason Flohrs issued the following statement:

“Our Founding Fathers recognized it was essential the judiciary branch refrain from exercising its will to advance its own policy agendas. We applaud President Trump’s nomination of Judge Kavanaugh, whose outstanding legal record reaffirms our Founding Father’s vision of a justice who upholds the Constitution and interprets the law as written.

“Although Senator Klobuchar chose to play D.C. politics by opposing Justice Gorsuch’s confirmation to the bench, both Senator Klobuchar and Senator Smith have a great opportunity to put partisan obstruction aside and support a qualified judge who is dedicated to follow the Constitution as written. Instead of siding with Senators Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Warren, we urge Senators Klobuchar and Smith to stand with Minnesotans who want their legislators to understand the proper role of the Supreme Court and assess Judge Kavanaugh based on his legal record.”

Americans for Prosperity will commit seven-figures to paid advertising and grassroots engagement in support of Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation and utilize all of our grassroots tactics, which include door-to-door canvassing and phone banking. Later this month, AFP will host events, tele-townhalls, and Facebook Live conversations with key lawmakers throughout the country to discuss the proper role of the courts and why it’s important to confirm jurists who interpret the law as written.

Our Network in 2017, led by Concerned Veterans for America (CVA), engaged in an unprecedented grassroots effort to confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Network activists called over 350,000 constituents, asking them to contact their senators to confirm Gorsuch without delay. Brett Kavanaugh, a graduate of Yale Law School and former clerk to Justice Anthony Kennedy, received bipartisan support in 2006 for his confirmation to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. During his 12 years on the federal bench, Judge Kavanaugh has demonstrated a commitment to the rule of law and is widely respected for his principled approach to interpreting the Constitution as written.
