Boston, Massachusetts — In case you missed it, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) hosted a town hall with Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance (MassFiscal) last week to highlight the increasing fiscal burden placed on taxpayers from Massachusetts’ overspending and the need for strong government transparency and oversight. The event brought together policymakers, journalists, and taxpayer advocates to confront the state’s growing spending problem and its total lack of accountability.
The panel featured Fox News contributor Joe Concha alongside State Rep. Ken Sweezey, AFP Northeast Region Director Ross Connolly, MassFiscal Executive Director Paul Craney, Maine Wire reporter Jon Fetherston, The Grace Curley Show host, and Boston Herald reporter Tim Dunn.
AFP Northeast Region Director Ross Connolly said:
“Massachusetts residents continue to shoulder one of the heaviest state and local tax burdens in the country. One in seven Massachusetts residents rely on state public assistance, taxes keep climbing, and yet when 71 percent of voters demanded an audit of the Legislature, they are still waiting. Bay Staters aren’t asking for much—just to know where their money is going.
“That’s exactly why we brought this conversation to Boston to raise awareness and call for greater transparency and oversight in state government. Bay Staters deserve a legislature that works for them, not one that operates behind closed doors. AFP will continue to call attention to this issue and keep pressure on Beacon Hill until taxpayers get real answers.”
