COLUMBUS, OH — Today, Americans for Prosperity–Ohio (AFP-OH) announced its endorsement of former State Representative Craig Riedel for Ohio Senate District 1, continuing its commitment to supporting strong legislative leadership in 2026.

Tim Ross, Deputy State Director and Political Director of AFP-OH, released the following statement:

“Craig Riedel has consistently shown what responsible, principled leadership looks like. During his time in the Ohio House, he was a champion of financial stewardship, fighting to reduce income taxes, opposing gas tax increases, and pushing for greater transparency and oversight in property taxation. Ohioans deserve leaders who respect taxpayers and understand that families thrive when government lives within its means.

“Craig also understands that a strong economy depends on a strong and flexible workforce. He has supported labor policies that protect worker freedom, promote job growth, and ensure Ohio remains a competitive place for employers and employees alike. Labor reform is about empowering workers with choice and opportunity, not trapping them in outdated systems.”

Donovan O’Neil, AFP-Ohio State Director, added:

“Beyond his strong fiscal and labor record, Craig has been a powerful advocate for expanding educational opportunities. He knows that freedom and opportunity begin with access to a quality education, and his leadership is exactly what is needed to ensure every Ohio student has the chance to succeed.

“AFP-OH is proud to endorse Craig Riedel, and we are excited to support his campaign with our grassroots network across Senate District 1. Our activists are ready to get to work to make sure voters know Craig is the candidate who will fight for accountability, affordability, and opportunity for all Ohioans.”

As a former state representative, Riedel built a strong record grounded in fiscal responsibility and reform. He supported income tax reductions, opposed increases to the gas tax, worked to strengthen transparency and oversight in property taxes, and backed labor reforms that protect worker choice and support economic growth. He also consistently fought to expand educational freedom and ensure families have access to more choices and better outcomes.

AFP-OH looks forward to working with Craig Riedel to advance policies that put Ohio families first and make government work better for the people it serves.
