Senator Schumer Has No Business Lecturing Americans on Affordability

Dec 4, 2025 by AFP

Arlington, VA — According to a recent Axios report, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) urged top lawmakers this week to adopt a “laser focus” on the affordability crisis — his chosen attack plan for the 2026 midterms. This comes after Democrat support for Bidenomics over the last four years driving inflation to a 40-year high.

Kent Strang, Managing Director at AFP, issued the following statement:

“Chuck Schumer and Democrats have no business lecturing Americans on affordability. Under Senator Schumer’s leadership, Democrats passed $5.5 trillion in spending, caused 40-year high inflation, and cost the average American $12,000 more to maintain their quality of life. And if Senator Schumer and every other Democrat had their way, Americans would be bracing for the largest tax hike in history. Americans shouldn’t be fooled by a new marketing plan – these are the same failed policies that have already made life harder for millions.”

Real Solutions to Lower Costs and Provide Relief

While some prices remain high because of Biden-era policies, Congress can take concrete steps to help hardworking Americans by:

• Passing permitting reform to lower energy prices and helping make energy cheaper and more available everywhere.
• Giving taxpayers more money back in their pockets in the form of higher tax refunds. and getting serious about cutting wasteful spending and getting our fiscal house in order.
• Making health care more affordable by focusing on patients, rather than continuing to subsidize a broken system.
