AFP-NH Calls on Senators Shaheen and Hassan to End the Longest Government Shutdown in History

Concord, NH – Today, as the government shutdown becomes the longest in American history, Americans for Prosperity – New Hampshire (AFP-NH) is calling on Senators Shaheen and Hassan to put people over politics and support a clean continuing resolution to reopen the government.

Granite Staters are feeling the pain from this shutdown. Working families across New Hampshire are feeling the pain of partisan politics. AFP calls out Democrat leaders that have dug in their heels and pursued a strategy of using the American people as “leverage” for their political games instead of doing what’s right for the American people.

AFP Regional Director Greg Moore released the following statement:

“It is inexcusable that Senators Shaheen and Hassan continue to prioritize partisan games over the wellbeing of their constituents. They’ve had 14 opportunities to end the shutdown. Instead, they have voted over and over again to keep the government closed – demanding billions in healthcare subsidies while leaving hardworking New Hampshire families to pay the price.

This senseless behavior has driven this shutdown to become the longest in history. It’s time for Shaheen and Hassan to change course and do the right thing for Granite Staters by voting to reopen the government.”

AFP-NH will continue to hold elected leaders accountable until Washington delivers the commonsense solutions that hardworking Granite Staters deserve.
