AFP Applauds President Trump for Helping Unleash Alaska Energy Production

ARLINGTON, VA— On Thursday, the Trump administration announced plans to allow oil and gas drilling in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), as well as a handful of other actions, aimed at “modernizing land and resource management” as well as “public health and safety” across the state.

Brent Gardner, Chief Government Affairs Officer at Americans for Prosperity, released the following statement supporting the Interior Department’s activities to fully embrace Alaska’s energy potential:

“The road to prosperity runs through Alaska and President Trump knows it. We are encouraged that this administration continues to cut red tape and double down on domestic energy production at a time when our economy and innovative industries need it most. America’s vast energy resources have been put off limits for too long. Access to affordable and reliable energy is too important for our economy and our national security to keep it off limits any longer.”

Earlier this month, President Trump proclaimed October to be National Energy Dominance Month. In September, Americans for Prosperity launched the Road to Prosperity campaign to help unleash America’s potential by elevating the critical need for permitting reform and producing enough energy to compete and power the future of our economy. We’ve hosted events in nearly a dozen states in the last month, visiting an oil rig in Louisiana, a coal mine in Pennsylvania, and an iron mine in Minnesota. State leaders and allies spoke at an all-day Energy-focused summit in Montana and hosted permitting reform roundtables and discussions with state and federal elected officials in Kentucky, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
