Spartanburg, SC—As Congressman James Clyburn (SC-06) holds a townhall event today in Spartanburg, Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina (AFP-SC) is calling on him to put hardworking families first and renew the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA). AFP-SC says they expect the Congressman to talk about the major issue of the TCJA expiring, which could cost South Carolinians thousands in taxes.
AFP-SC State Director, Matt Humm, said:
“While Rep. Clyburn heads to Spartanburg his constituents are back home facing high costs and uncertainty over a potential tax hike. Renewing President Trump’s tax cuts saves the average family in our state $2,199 in federal taxes, yet Rep. Clyburn voted against the TCJA in 2017 and most recently opposed the budget resolution which paves the way for the TCJA’s renewal. At his townhall, AFP-SC expects to hear the Congressman take our tax dollars seriously and stand for commonsense reforms that put money back into the hands of taxpayers—not Washington—by lending his support for the TCJA.”
Last week on Tax Day, AFP-SC utilized a mobile billboard truck to educate voters throughout Rep. Clyburn’s district about his opposition to keeping taxes low for working Americans.
