CHARLESTON, W.Va. – This week marks the close of the regular session of the West Virginia Legislature. Throughout the session, Americans for Prosperity – West Virginia (AFP-WV) has advocated for proven policy solutions, securing several transformational legislative victories by working closely alongside grassroots activists, principled lawmakers, and Governor Patrick Morrisey.
Many of the organization’s top priorities from their 2025 Pathway to Prosperity Legislative Agenda have been enacted or soon will be:
AFP-WV State Director Jason Huffman released the following statement:
“We applaud Governor Morrisey’s bold leadership and the hard work of principled lawmakers to adopt myriad common-sense reforms that will make West Virginia a better place to live, work, and raise a family. While this session was a solid start, now is not the time to rest on our laurels. It’s abundantly clear that much more must be done to swiftly enact policies that will allow West Virginia to reach its full potential. And we look forward to continuing working with policy champions to do just that. Together, we can reignite the American Dream in the Mountain State.”
AFP-WV Deputy State Director Tyler Henry released the following statement:
“At the same time, a handful of lawmakers fell far short of the goal of establishing tough but critically needed reforms this session—caving to special interests instead of standing up for hardworking West Virginia families. When lawmakers kowtow to the well-moneyed interests who benefit from the failed status quo, they not only hold our state back from winning the economic backyard brawl but strike a chord with grassroots activists across the state who rightly see items like Certificate of Need repeal as a mandate given to lawmakers by the voters. As always, AFP-WV will strive to be a platform for citizens to make their voices heard by holding lawmakers accountable for their stances on the top issues of the day.”
AFP-WV will be releasing their 2025 Legislative Key Vote Scorecard, a report indicating how West Virginia lawmakers stood on the most important policy issues, in the coming weeks.
