Knoxville, TN–On Saturday, Americans for Prosperity-Tennessee (AFP-TN) hosted a rally featuring Representative Tim Burchett (TN-02) and Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs. Over 200 Knoxville residents attended the rally, which centered around the importance of extending the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) to benefit all Tennesseans. Rep. Burchett discussed his work with AFP to fight against taxation.
Rep. Burchett released the following statement:
“In Congress, we are laser focused on extending the Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Washington should not have the power to decide what to do with the money that belongs in the pockets of hardworking Americans. We are in the fight, right here and right now, to extend the TCJA.”
Knox County Mayor Jacobs made the following statement:
“If the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act does not get extended, Americans will experience the largest tax increase of our lifetime. It is imperative that we fight to make sure that Congress codifies the Trump tax cuts so that Tennesseans can afford to live out their version of the American Dream.”
AFP-TN State Director Tori Venable released the following statement:
“This year, Congress is facing a countdown to a crisis that threatens family budgets nationwide. If Congress fails to renew the TCJA, Tennesseans will be left paying over $2,500 more in taxes. If we are going to reignite the American Dream, we need to start with protecting the progress we made with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. We are proud to partner with Rep. Burchett to protect the prosperity of Tennesseans and make sure the Trump tax cuts don’t expire.
