Alaska’s representatives in Congress are notorious for carving out more than their fair share of pork and sending it back to the frozen north.  As the political environment has turned icy toward excessive earmarking behavior, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is striving to restore the state’s reputation.  Unable to restrain earmark connoisseurs Sen. Ted Stevens and Rep. Don Young, Palin has directed her budget chief Karen Rehfeld to drastically reduce the number of federal earmarks being requested by the state.   

OKLAHOMA CITY – The free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity Foundation-Oklahoma (AFPF-OK) will offer members of the media an opportunity for insight into the 2008 agenda and release a new book of economic data in advance of a town hall scheduled with Congressman John Sullivan.  AFPF’s initiatives include educating citizens on the lack of transparency to taxpayer-funded lobbying, property tax loophole for developers, and benefits a system of school choice would bring for Oklahoma’s children.
