Stop the 8% Raleigh Tax Hike

The Raleigh City Council may vote this Tuesday to fund a project that will require an 8% property tax increase. The eight-percent tax increase would stay in place for the next 25 years. It is simply wrong for the Raleigh City Council to approve this project without a vote of the people.

The U.S. Congress is discussing a bill tomorrow (March 10) that would override the basic tenets of federalism and would force state and local governments to participate in collective bargaining with all public safety personnel.

The “Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2010” (H.R. 413) is a cynical attempt by public-sector union representatives to force an unfunded mandate on state and local governments while also subjecting all state bargaining laws to review and possible rejection by the Federal Labor Relations Authority (FLRA).

-Signs No Climate Tax Pledge-

RALEIGH—The North Carolina chapter of the grassroots free market group Americans for Prosperity (AFP-NC) today applauded U.S. Representative Howard Coble (6th District) for signing the group’s No Climate Tax pledge. Coble joins more than 400 lawmakers and candidates on the federal, state and local levels pledging to “oppose legislation relating to climate change that includes a net increase in government revenue.”
