Strong bipartisan support shows education remains top issue
LANSING, Mich. – Americans for Prosperity-Michigan released a poll question today that showed strong bipartisan support for using federal COVID relief funds to create a grant program that would offer direct financial help to students who have struggled to keep up academically the past two years. Rep. Julie Alexander and Sen. John Bizon have sponsored legislation, HB 5859 and SB 925, that would help create the “tutoring dollars for kids” program.
Other key takeaways from the question include:
“These poll results clearly show that parents aren’t thinking about education in terms of partisan politics or us versus them,” said Annie Patnaude, state director for Americans for Prosperity-Michigan. “Parents are looking for bottom-up solutions that empower their child to recover both inside and outside the classroom. The question was commissioned by Americans for Prosperity-Michigan as part of Marketing Resource Group’s broader survey of 601 likely voters fielded March 14th – March 17th, 2022.
