In Case You Missed It: AFP-SD Calls for Spending Freeze by Congress in Argus Leader Letter-to-the-Editor

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.—In case you missed it… Americans for Prosperity-South Dakota State Director Don Haggar authored a letter-to-the-editor in the Argus Leader calling for the state’s congressional delegation to do right by hard-working South Dakotans and hold Washington accountable for its irresponsible overspending.

The piece ran Saturday in the Argus Leader and can be viewed here.

The nation’s debt currently sits at $21 trillion with no sign of slowing down. Tuesday the Senate passed a massive $854 billion spending bill which will further compound that debt and grow spending. Congress must act now to curtail egregious spending, or the nation’s rising debt will most certainly fall on the next generation of South Dakotans.

“The best thing Congress can do right now—and it’s more than doable—is freeze discretionary spending for 2019,” said Don Haggar, state director for Americans for Prosperity-South Dakota. “I hope Sens. Thune and Rounds support a spending freeze and urge their colleagues to follow suit.”
