Nashville, TN – Yesterday, Americans for Prosperity–Tennessee (AFP-TN) hosted U.S. Representative Andy Ogles (TN-05) for a tele-town hall to discuss the ongoing federal government shutdown and its impact on Tennessee families and small businesses.
During the discussion, Rep. Ogles and AFP-TN highlighted how political gridlock in Washington is hurting hardworking Tennesseans and called for commonsense solutions to reopen the government and prevent future shutdowns.
“This Democrat shutdown is a reminder of what’s at stake—reckless spending, big government regulation, and political brinkmanship at the expense of hardworking Americans,” said Rep. Ogles. “On our telephone town hall, we discussed how we’re standing firm for Tennessee’s conservative values and real solutions to get our country back on track. I’m tremendously grateful to Americans for Prosperity for making this important conversation possible.”
“This shutdown is a direct result of Senate Democrats playing politics with people’s livelihoods,” said Tori Venable, AFP-TN State Director. “Tennessee families deserve better than partisan games that put paychecks, businesses, and essential services at risk. It’s time for Democrats to put politics aside, pass a clean funding bill, and get the government back to work for the people.”
Background:
AFP supports the Prevent Government Shutdowns Act, a bill that would require Congress to remain in session until it passes the bills necessary to fund the government, ensuring stability in the government and eliminating shutdowns as a political weapon.
