As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, AFP’s One Small Step initiative is mobilizing citizens to engage in the civic process and recommit to the founding principles that have made America exceptional. Considering the recent Gallup polling showing American pride at historic lows, AFP sees a huge opportunity in this moment to reconnect people to our shared history and how our principles have cleared the way for extraordinary achievement.

Daniel Bassali, Americans for Prosperity’s Vice President of Public Affairs said:

“We want to establish that what makes this country special is our principles—those founding principles we found in the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights—and our people, because that pioneering spirit we’ve shown for 250 [years], we want to carry that forward.”

Through One Small Step, Americans across the country are taking meaningful actions to preserve our founding ideals and take our country to new heights. The first major activation will be “250,000 Steps for Freedom” – a challenge to every AFP state chapter to generate 250,000 actions to promote policies that advance the freedom and opportunity envisioned by the Founders. Each digital action, letter, door knock, or phone call are all examples of the steps that every individual can take to make a difference in their community and help transform our country for the better.
