SAVANNAH, GA – On Monday, Americans for Prosperity – Georgia (AFP-GA) attended the Senate Study Committee on Certificate of Need Reform as part of their continued efforts in advocating for a full repeal of Certificate of Need (CON) in Georgia.

During the meeting, the Committee heard numerous stories from medical professionals highlighting the negative impacts that Certificate of Need requirements have on their practices and their ability to provide critical care to patients across the state.

AFP-GA Deputy State Director Tony West released the following statement following the Certificate of Need Reform Study Committee meeting:

“Certificate of Need laws are outdated government permission slips that ultimately limit the supply of health care services. We are pleased to see the Georgia State House and Senate taking this important issue seriously and holding Study Committee meetings across the state to hear from medical professionals about the negative impacts these regulations have on providers and consumers.

“AFP-GA will continue to be a leader in calling for the full repeal of Certificate of Need in the next legislative session. We encourage Georgians to contact their elected officials and urge them to support our efforts.”
