ICYMI: AFP Hosts Economic Policy Dinner Focused on Affordability and Washington’s Economy

Vancouver, Washington — In case you missed it, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) hosted an economic policy discussion dinner titled “State of Your Wallet,” bringing together community members to discuss how taxes and policies are affecting families, workers, and small businesses.

The event featured Washington State Senator John Braun, Fox News contributor Guy Benson, radio host Ari Hoffman, and AFP Western Region Director Heather Andrews, who talked about the current economic climate and the policy decisions shaping household budgets across the state.

AFP Western Regional Director Heather Andrews said:

This was not another policy discussion—it was about the people of Washington and their ability to build a life, keep more of what they earn, and plan for the future with confidence. Washington is facing serious fiscal challenges, with a budget that has grown to nearly $80 billion and recurring multi-billion-dollar deficits driven by unchecked spending rather than disciplined priorities.

“The goal is to make Washington affordable again, and conversations like this are critical to refocusing our state on what matters most: economic freedom, affordability, and opportunity. AFP will continue to partner with lawmakers and champion policies that rein in costs, protect taxpayers, and ensure every Washingtonian has the freedom and opportunity to succeed.

State Senator Braun said:

Washington’s legislative session made clear that we need to stay focused on policies that strengthen economic freedom, not expand new taxes that make it harder for families and small businesses to make a living. Events like tonight’s ‘State of Your Wallet’ discussion underscore what we’re hearing across Washington—families are struggling with affordability and want real solutions, not more taxes. If we want lasting prosperity in Washington, we need to focus on real solutions like controlling costs, protecting taxpayers, and strengthening economic freedom so every Washingtonian has the chance to succeed.
