CONCORD, NH – Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire (AFP-NH) today commended Governor Sununu for opposing the Transportation and Climate Initiative (TCI) in his State of the State speech. The TCI would institute a gas tax increase for a dozen Northeast and mid-Atlantic states, making it harder for individuals to make ends meet. In December, Sununu stated that New Hampshire would not participate in the program.
Americans for Prosperity-New Hampshire State Director Greg Moore issued the following statement:
“A gas tax increase and this regulatory boondoggle is the last thing our state needs. Our low-tax, smart regulatory approach is precisely what has led to our recent economic boom. Governor Sununu is right to protect Granite Staters from having their hard-earned tax dollars siphoned off on frivolous projects. We thank the governor for rejecting this top-down government mandate that would hit rural and fixed-income families the hardest.”
