TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Americans for Prosperity-Florida (AFP-FL) today commended Governor Ron DeSantis for vetoing $20 million for the Job Growth Grant Fund, a cronyist economic development program.

AFP-FL State Director Skylar Zander issued the following statement:

“With our state finances already strained because of the business shutdowns caused by COVID-19 and the government’s response to it, protecting taxpayer dollars is more imperative than ever. Instead of the government using taxpayer dollars to pick winners and losers, lawmakers should continue pursuing a pro-growth tax code that helps all businesses succeed. All corporate welfare needs to go, and we thank Governor DeSantis for taking a step toward rooting it out and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent on only the most important services.”

AFP-Florida has been at the forefront of opposing corporate welfare. Ending corporate welfare is part of AFP-FL’s policy agenda, Five for Florida.
