MADISON, WI– Today, Americans for Prosperity – Wisconsin (AFP-WI) released a statement thanking leaders in the Wisconsin legislature for advocating for policing reform with wide bipartisan support. AFP has previously supported a package of reforms championed by Republican Sen. Van Wanggaard and Democratic Sen. Lena Taylor and is now announcing its support for several similar provisions included in recommendations from the Speaker’s Task Force on Racial Disparities.

AFP-WI State Director Eric Bott released the following statement on the reform packages:

“Our activists extend a sincere thanks to Senators Wanggaard and Taylor, who have long championed reform in the state senate as well as Majority Leader Steineke, Rep. Stubbs, and the entire task force that has worked so diligently to put forward reforms with bipartisan support. Their work proves that we can improve policing while strengthening public safety.

“AFP-WI is calling on both chambers of the legislature to work through any differences in their proposals and to unite around a series of reforms before the end of the spring session.”
