Americans for Prosperity Urges Legislature to Resist Urge to Dump More Tax Dollars into Broken Education System

Americans for Prosperity Press Release

“The new MAEP formula passed by the Senate is a bandaid – not a solution to Mississippi’s broken education system.”

JACKSON, MS — Americans for Prosperity – Mississippi (AFP-MS) today urged the State House to reject the new formula to fund the broken MAEP.

AFP-MS Deputy State Director Cade Yates released the following statement:

“The new MAEP formula passed by the Senate is a bandaid – not a solution to Mississippi’s broken education system. This plan would simply pour more taxpayer dollars into a system that is opaque with inefficiencies and does not meet the needs of students. We recognize the desire of the legislature to act to help Mississippi students, but the more prudent course of action would be to develop funding mechanisms that recognize each child’s unique needs and their parents’ rights to choose what’s best for them.”
