JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Americans for Prosperity-Missouri (AFP-MO) today released a statement following Governor Parson’s withdrawal of Missouri’s request to expand Medicaid coverage.
“We are deeply encouraged to see Gov. Parson stand up and do what’s right to protect Missouri taxpayers from unsustainable and reckless government spending,” said AFP-MO State Director Jeremy Cady. “This is a positive step to safeguard our state’s fiscal health and put us on track to a balanced state budget. Without a funding source, Medicaid expansion would have inevitably required a future tax increase, further burdening hardworking Missourians when they can least afford it. We commend Gov. Parson for his leadership and supporting the legislature’s vote to oppose funding for Medicaid expansion.”
