Salem, Oregon — Today, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) released the following statement after Oregonians rejected Ballot Measure 120, which would have amended Oregon statutes to increase the gas tax, raise vehicle fees, and raise the payroll tax.
AFP Western Region Director Heather Andrews said:
“Yesterday, Oregonians shut down a reckless gas tax hike and sent a clear message to politicians after they moved the referendum in a blatant political maneuver that would have had a statewide impact. Ballot Measure 120 would have forced families to pay more at the pump at a time when they can least afford it.
“Oregonians across the state already face rising costs, and they made it clear they won’t hand politicians another blank check to fund out-of-touch priorities. This victory is a win for taxpayers, and Americans for Prosperity will continue fighting for policies that keep costs low and expand opportunity.”
