DENVER, Colo. – Americans for Prosperity-Colorado State Director Jesse Mallory released the following statements Tuesday night after voters rejected Amendment 73, which would raise taxes by $1.6 billion, and Proposition 112, which would increase setback distance for energy exploration.
On voters rejecting Amendment 73:
“Coloradans were rightly leery of an $1.6 billion tax increase without guaranteed results. The legislature should instead look at ways to increase funding by cutting wasteful spending, ending fraud and abuse, and eliminating handouts and tax loopholes for powerful and well-connected special interests.”
On voters rejecting Proposition 112:
“Colorado was right to reject a ballot initiative that would severely cripple our blossoming energy sector, a major driver in our state’s economic growth. We should be promoting policies that support job growth instead of implementing regulations that would hamper our state’s economic progress.”
