If passed, North Carolina’s premiere grassroots organization will hold legislators accountable
RALEIGH, NC— Americans for Prosperity-North Carolina (AFP-NC) tonight began preparations to immediately rally its thousands of grassroots activists across the Tar Heel State in opposition to any misguided attempt to expand the broken Medicaid system. AFP-NC urges legislatures that value fiscal responsibility to reject this bad deal with taxpayers.
The grassroots organization will launch a full-scale campaign to combat the effort which will include citizen to citizen outreach in key legislative districts, paid digital advertisements, and ensuring its thousands of activists reach their lawmakers in strong opposition.
AFP-NC State Director Chris McCoy issued the following statement:
“As Senator Berger and most legislators who identify as ‘fiscally responsible’ have said for years: Medicaid expansion is— and always has been— bad policy. While some are letting the guise of unreliable federal funding dissuade their principles, our activists are gearing up to remind policymakers that Medicaid expansion will only exacerbate fiscal challenges for our state and North Carolina’s hardworking families.
“Should legislators support this misguided and unprincipled proposal, Americans for Prosperity will be ready to remind their constituents and to hold them accountable.”
