Americans for Prosperity Praises Passage of Pennsylvania’s Fighting Chance Act

Apr 6, 2020 by AFP

Harrisburg, PA – Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania (AFP-PA) today commended members of the House State Government Committee for unanimously passing HB 995, The Fighting Chance Act. The bill creates a pilot program for red tape reduction aimed at minimizing regulations within the Board of Probation and Parole and Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs.

State Director Ashley Klingensmith issued the following statement:

“We’re thankful to see this commonsense approach pass unanimously out of committee today in Harrisburg. This regulatory reduction pilot program and review of current regulations on the books will be a monumental victory for the Keystone State. It’s critical our lawmakers and state officials understand the complexity and difficulty of the rules, restrictions and requirements currently in place within our system to better address its flaws.”

“Based on research from the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, we know that our state has one of the most burdensome regulatory codes in the county-and it weighs on every family, worker and business. We commend the Professional Licensure members for taking this important first step in getting this legislation to the Governor’s desk so we can begin assessing the size of the regulatory state.  We look forward to helping to improve our regulatory culture to unleash Pennsylvanians potential and maximize prosperity for all Keystone residents.”
