LINCOLN, Neb. – Americans for Prosperity-Nebraska (AFP-NE) today announced its endorsement of four state legislative candidates running for re-election this November. These candidates earned the endorsement of AFP-NE through their principled policy leadership and dedication to tackling Nebraska’s greatest challenges. The grassroots organization will support: Suzanne Geist (LD-25), Andrew LaGrone (LD-49), John Lowe (LD-37), and Julie Slama (LD-01).
AFP-NE State Director Jessica Shelburn issued the following statement:
“These candidates are the right choice to fight for the ‘Good Life’ and help put Nebraska on the path of economic recovery. Their steadfast support for expanded access to quality, affordable health care, increased educational opportunities, and tax reform to help hardworking families keep more of what they earn solidifies that these individuals will continue to be a great asset to the state legislature when re-elected this November. We look forward to mobilizing our activists and encouraging voters across the state to support these principled candidates.”

Senator Suzanne Geist (LD-25): State Sen. Suzanne Geist, elected in 2016, is seeking re-election to represent Legislative District 25. Sen. Geist has championed much needed tax reform to lower the burden on hardworking Nebraskans. Sen. Geist has also been a strong supporter of reducing unnecessary red tape to make it easier for Nebraskans to earn a living. She was an AFP-NE “Policy Champion” in 2019.
Senator Andrew LaGrone (LD-49): State Sen. Andrew LaGrone, appointed in 2019, is seeking re-election to represent Legislative District 49. Sen. LaGrone has demonstrated leadership by championing policies to put Nebraska’s economy on the path to recovery. Sen. LaGrone has fought to lower taxes and reduce red tape to make it easier for Nebraskans to earn a living. Sen. LaGrone has also supported legislation that would increase access to quality, affordable health care and expand educational opportunities for students. He was an AFP-NE “Policy Champion” in 2019.
Senator John Lowe (LD-37): State Sen. John Lowe, elected in 2016, is seeking re-election to represent Legislative District 37. Sen. Lowe is a proven leader on issues that increase opportunity and improve the lives of all Nebraskans. Sen. Lowe has advocated for increased accountability and transparency in government spending and has pushed to reduce unnecessary red tape so Nebraska’s residents and businesses become stronger than ever before. He has also supported legislation that would expand access to quality and affordable health care at a price Nebraska can afford. He was an AFP-NE “Policy Champion” in 2019.
Senator Julie Slama (LD-01): State Sen. Julie Slama was appointed by Governor Ricketts in 2019 to represent Legislative District 1. Sen. Slama has proven herself a leader in the fight to expand opportunities for all Nebraskans. Sen. Slama has fought to expand access to quality and affordable health care and lower the tax burden on hardworking Nebraskans families so they can keep more of what they earn. If elected this November, Sen. Slama will continue to tackle the greatest challenges Nebraskans face. She was an AFP-NE “Policy Champion” in 2019.
