Americans for Prosperity Launches Summer Campaign to Promote a Personal Option in Health Care
Arlington, Va. – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) today announced the launch of a new summer campaign focused on promoting Personal Option-style health care reforms in Congress.
The effort consists of digital ads that will target lawmakers in Washington, a series of events on Capitol Hill aimed at raising awareness about the Personal Option, and a coalition letter signed by one dozen national organizations urging congressional leaders to prioritize these solutions.
With discussions underway in Congress over expanding telehealth, curbing dishonest billing in Medicare, and other health policy items, AFP’s campaign will encourage lawmakers to pass these and other solutions that are part of the Personal Option, a doctor-supported plan that makes health care more affordable, transparent, and hassle-free.
“When it comes to health care, you should have as many choices as there are flavors of ice cream,” said Dean Clancy, senior health policy fellow at Americans for Prosperity. “The Personal Option gives people – not insurance middlemen or government bureaucrats – control over their health care, allowing individuals to customize their care they way they like. We urge Congress to pass the Personal Option and make health care more like a sundae bar, less like plain vanilla.”
New digital ads
AFP is launching a new six-figure digital ad campaign encouraging Congress to pass Personal Option-style health care reforms. The ads, which will target lawmakers on Capitol Hill for a total of three weeks, mirror the ice cream theme of AFP’s upcoming events, highlighting the multitude of choices that the Personal Option offers patients.

Coalition letter to Congress
AFP is leading a coalition of a dozen organizations, including a prominent patient advocacy group, in sending a letter encouraging congressional leaders to prioritize health care reform legislation that aligns with the Personal Option. Key legislative priorities include:
- Eliminating dishonest billing practices through site-neutral payments.
- Increasing price transparency.
- Expanding access to telehealth and insurance-free direct primary care plans.
- Expanding tax-free health savings accounts.
The coalition applauds members of Congress for taking steps to address these critical issues and continuing to advance them on Capitol Hill.

Events on Capitol Hill:
“Scoops and Solutions” is a series of events AFP will host on Capitol Hill from July 23-25. The events will help foster dialogue and inspire legislative action that empowers people and families with greater control of their health care. These events will include:
