TOPEKA, Kan. – Today, Americans for Prosperity-Kansas (AFP-KS) weighed in shortly after Governor Laura Kelly vetoed SB29. The grassroots group supported this bill that gives Kansans and their families additional flexibility during a time of need.
AFP-KS State Director Elizabeth Patton issued the following statement:
“This piece of legislation served as a stop-gap solution to ensure that Kansans did not fall through the cracks during unprecedented health and economic crisis. As a short-term plan, this could help struggling families without digging into their budgets by offering them coverage at a significantly reduced rate with the opportunity to extend the contract. However, Governor Kelly has chosen to stand in the way of these efforts to provide additional market solutions and tools for our state. She continues to assert that her administration is prioritizing efforts to assist the unemployed. We urge Kansans to contact your officials to urge them to override Governor Kelly’s veto.”
