“Governor DeSantis’ announcement restores the focus back to helping students actually learn — not just memorize facts for a test.”

TALLAHASSEE, FL — Americans for Prosperity – Florida (AFP-FL) today applauded Governor Ron DeSantis’ announcement that he will introduce legislation to end the majority of Florida state testing in K-12 schools. Under his proposal, the 2021-2022 school year will be the last year of the Florida Standards Assessments.

AFP-FL State Director Skylar Zander released the following statement:

“Kids are more than just a test score. Governor DeSantis’ announcement restores the focus back to helping students actually learn — not just memorize facts for a test. Instead of prioritizing standardized tests, we need to enable students to pursue knowledge that will lead to success and purpose in life. AFP-FL applauds the decision to do away with the outdated way of measuring a student’s education based on performances of standardized testing.”
