Americans for Prosperity Adds Former Border Patrol Chief, Chris Clem, to Advisory Council

Nov 19, 2025 by AFP

ARLINGTON, VA – Americans for Prosperity (AFP) announced today the addition of Chief Chris Clem to its Advisory Council. Chief Clem brings decades of real-world experience in border security and a thoughtful, solutions-oriented approach to fixing America’s broken immigration system—making him an invaluable resource as AFP continues to advocate for policies that expand freedom and opportunity.

Chief Clem previously served as Chief Patrol Agent for the U.S. Border Patrol’s Yuma Sector, where he oversaw operations along one of the most challenging stretches of the southern border. During the “First 100 Days” of the second Trump administration, he was appointed Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Health & Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He worked closely with the Office of Refugee Resettlement to direct immigration operations related to unaccompanied minors and refugees. Following his tenure at HHS, Chief Clem returned to advising Americans for Prosperity on border security, a role he first assumed in 2023. In addition, he continues to hold multiple advisory and consulting positions across the national and homeland security space.

His leadership and firsthand knowledge of immigration enforcement give him unique insight into the practical realities of securing the border while advancing reforms that promote the rule of law and a functioning immigration system.

Brent Gardner, AFP’s Chief Government Affairs Officer, said:

“Chief Clem’s deep expertise and commitment to principled solutions make him a perfect fit for our Advisory Council. His experience on the front lines of border security and his thoughtful perspective on immigration reform will help guide AFP’s engagement on one of the most pressing issues facing our country.”

Retired Border Patrol Chief Chris Clem on joining AFP’s advisory council:

“The Biden border crisis was a disaster. That’s why I partnered with Americans for Prosperity to lead border visits and host more than 50 events nationwide, highlighting the importance of securing our border and fixing our broken immigration system. We’ve made meaningful progress with President Trump’s leadership and with Congress investing in border security through the Working Families Tax Cuts bill. But we cannot allow that progress to slip away. We must remain steadfast, and that’s why I am proud to join the Advisory Council.”

Chief Clem joins a distinguished group of leaders on AFP’s Advisory Council who provide strategic insight and help shape the organization’s efforts to advance policies that empower people and strengthen communities.
