CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Americans for Prosperity-West Virginia (AFP-WV) today announced the launch of its grassroots campaign for the November 2026 general election. This effort comes after a successful primary election cycle where AFP-backed candidates won big in both the West Virginia Senate and House of Delegates.
AFP-WV has endorsed 21 candidates for the November general election: 16 House of Delegates and 6 State Senate candidates. The group has already knocked on over 10,000 doors for the general election engagement and will be complementing their signature grassroots approach with direct mail and digital advertisement.
AFP-WV State Director Jason Huffman released the following statement:
“With affordability at top of mind for West Virginia families, it is more important now than ever to elect principled policy champions who are committed to making the Mountain State a better place to live, work, and raise a family. To that end, our staff and activists across the state will be knocking on tens of thousands of their fellow West Virginians’ doors to encourage support for common-sense candidates who want rapidly to expand freedom and opportunity for every Mountaineer.”

“Kicking off our grassroots campaign now means we have more time to connect with voters across West Virginia. We’ll be in communities every day, talking with our neighbors about these candidates, the key issues this November, and why we believe these policy champions deserve the support of West Virginia voters.”
General Election Endorsements
House of Delegates:
LD 12 Charles Hartzog – Charles Hartzog will bring new energy to Charleston and the 12th legislative district. His common-sense, blue-collar background gives Charles the insights he needs to enact reforms that will help make West Virginia a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
LD 13 Melissa McCrady – Melissa McCrady is an engineer and grassroots activist that has partnered with AFP-WV to drive key reforms in the statehouse. She will champion fiscal restraint, defend school choice, and advance free market solutions so every West Virginia family can thrive. We are honored to endorse the clear pro-growth candidate running for District 13.
LD 17- Jonathan Pinson – Jonathan Pinson is an experienced public servant who has dedicated his life to serving others, first as a police officer and now as a leader in the House of Delegates. As a pastor and foster father, he embodies the commitment, honesty, and integrity necessary to do what is right and to expand freedom in the Mountain State. Pinson has been a strong advocate for educational and entrepreneurial freedom and will continue to lead with conviction on behalf of the people he serves.
LD 28 Ryan Browning – Delegate Browning is a principled policy champion who serves on several key committees in the House of Delegates. He has been instrumental in cutting unnecessary barriers to entry for West Virginians in supporting SB 458 Universal Professional and Occupational Licensing Act of 2025. We look forward to continuing to work together to advance policies that strengthen West Virginia.
LD 35 John Morgan – John Morgan is an electrician with decades of experience. He knows the need to reduce taxes and use fiscal responsibility to make government live within its means to lessen the burden on West Virginia families and businesses. John will be a great voice in Charleston for the taxpayers in Wyoming County and across the state.
LD 41 Jordan Maynor – Delegate Mayor currently serves as the Vice Chair for the House Judiciary committee. In his time in the legislature, he has been championing transformational pro-growth policies and is not afraid to stand up for our shared West Virginia values. We look forward to continuing to work together to advance policies that will help all Mountaineers thrive.
LD 42 John Jordan – John Jordan is an upstanding community servant, bringing decades of experience in standing with the people of Raleigh County. He is committed to cutting bureaucratic red-tape, defending educational freedom, and returning much needed money to hardworking taxpayers.
LD 52 Tresa Howell – Delegate Tresa Howell began her political journey as a grassroots activist. She is a champion for common-sense policies like empowering parents to find the right education for their child’s unique needs through school choice, across the board income tax cuts that allow families to keep more of what they earn and cutting needless red tape that stands in the way of the average person thriving.
LD 53 Tristan Leavitt – Delegate Leavitt serves on several key committees in the House of Delegates. He has been a champion in the legislature for school choice, cutting red-tape, and lowering taxes. With over a decade spent uncovering waste, fraud, abuse, and cronyism, he is known for his exceptional understanding of the federal whistleblower protection process. This wealth of knowledge has been critical in bringing more transparency and accountability to state government.
LD 55 J.B. Akers – Delegate J.B. Akers serves as the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Akers is a proven fighter working to break down barriers that stand in the way of more jobs and better economic opportunities for every Mountaineer. As a husband, father, and small business owner, Akers knows what it takes to make West Virginia a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
LD 61 Dean Jeffries – Delegate Jeffries serves as the Chairman of the House Health Care Regulation Committee and the Vice Chair of the Banking and Insurance Committee. In 2021, he was one of the cosponsors for HB 2013 creating the Hope Scholarship. With the adoption of this law, our state now stands as a model for the entire nation when it comes to innovation and the future of K-12 education. Delegate Jeffries has played a key role in shaping some of the most transformative policies our state has seen and will continue to be a principled champion in the legislature.
LD 68 Chris Phillips – Delegate Phillips serves as the Chairman of the House Government Organization Committee. As a business owner and employer, Delegate Phillips understands the type of reforms West Virginia needs to create more jobs and grow our economy. He has championed lowering the tax burden on families to provide opportunity in the Mountain State. While in the legislature he has proven, time and again, that he will ensure West Virginians keep more of their hard-earned money and that he will always fight for pro-growth reforms.
LD 70 Paul J. Howe III – Paul Howe is an active member of the Clarksburg community and served on the Harrison County School Board. He is a staunch supporter of individual freedom and the constitutionally limited government our founding fathers intended. LD 96 Katie Rose – Katie Rose is a principled policy champion who will work to continue cutting taxes, defend school choice, and bring prosperity to the community she grew up in. She will bring a fresh perspective to Charleston representing House District 96 in the Legislature.
LD 99 Wayne Clark – Delegate Clark is a father, husband, and longtime AFP-WV champion on school choice. SD 2 Toby Heaney – Toby Heaney is an Army combat veteran with a background in economics. SD 6 Mark Maynard – Senator Mark Maynard serves as Chair for the Senate Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Chair of the Interim Committee on Department of Transportation Accountability. He has sponsored transformative legislation like SB 472 Comprehensive Review of Occupational Licensure Through Least Restrictive Means in 2021. Senator Maynard has been a champion for the constituents of the 6th Senate district in cutting taxes, defending the Hope Scholarship, and making government live within its means just like families must.
SD 8 Lance Wheeler – Lance Wheeler is a devoted husband, father, and current Kanawha County Commissioner. SD 9 Rollan Roberts – Senator Rollan Roberts serves as the Chair for the Senate Workforce Committee and the Vice Chair for the Senate Finance Committee. As a pastor and educator, he brings a unique wealth of knowledge and perspective to the State Senate. Senator Roberts has been a staunch supporter of school choice and has successfully returned hundreds of millions to the pockets of hardworking West Virginia families to invest in their version of the American Dream through transformational income tax cuts.
SD 15 Darren Thorne – Senator Darren Thorne serves as the Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture. A farmer by trade, Thorne is no stranger to hard work. SD 17 Anne Charnock – Senator Anne Charnock serves as the Chair of the Senate Confirmations Committee and is a former judge.
