Grassroots group praises lawmakers for enhancing transparency for taxpayers

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—Americans for Prosperity-West Virginia (AFP-WV) on Tuesday applauded the House of Delegates for voting to reorganize the Department of Health and Human Resources. This behemoth government agency represents a huge part of West Virginia’s expenditures; however, its current makeup prevents transparency and accountability. HB 4014 reorganizes the department in a way that sheds much needed light on the agencies spending.

“Taxpayers should be able to see where their money is going,” said Jason Huffman, AFP-WV State Director. “This reorganization splits government units up in a way that makes sense, makes spending more transparent, and holds officials accountable to taxpayers to ensure tax dollars are spent responsibly.”
