Arlington, VA – Following the release of the White House budget proposal Monday, Americans for Prosperity applauded the Trump administration for offering a serious proposal to rein in spending but urged greater action to truly solve our country’s fiscal crisis.

Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips issued the following statement:

“We’re encouraged to see the administration make a good-faith effort to aggressively rein in spending.  It is a step in the right direction on a long and necessary journey to address the looming debt crisis. In the long run, leaders in both parties must come together to tackle the real drivers of out of control spending and mounting debt to secure America’s future.”

Last month, Americans for Prosperity, along with Concerned Veterans for America, Freedom Partners Chamber of Commerce, and The LIBRE Initiative, led a coalition of groups to send a letter in support of companion resolutions proposed by Senator David Perdue and Representative Andy Biggs recognizing the national debt as a significant threat to our nation.
