Dear Lawmaker,
This morning, the Director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Trump Administration weighed in via Twitter on the prospect of expanding Medicaid in Virginia:

“The Administration is committed to addressing the unsustainable growth of Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion. The program has resulted in an explosion of state and federal spending, and abundant evidence suggests that new enrollees are not experiencing health improvements to justify this dramatic increase in cost. State expansion also created a bias in favor of able-bodied adults at the expense of those why truly need Medicaid services. For these reason, the President’s Budget repeals Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion and supports increased flexibility for states to design solutions that best meet the needs of their lower-income and most vulnerable populations.”
– Mick Mulvaney, OMB Director
This statement officially debunks the implied support of the Trump Administration for the House’s plan to expand Medicaid in Virginia. The Administration has clearly and publicly stated its opposition to any form of Obamacare Medicaid expansion and the President clearly intends to repeal it.
Expanding Medicaid is simply not an option. Doing so is fiscally and morally irresponsible as it puts Virginians at risk.
The so-called “conservative” plan to expand Medicaid under Obamacare is anything but conservative. Our activists oppose Medicaid expansion, a broad coalition of limited government groups oppose Medicaid expansion and the Trump White House opposes Medicaid expansion.
We urge you to do what is best for Virginia in joining the Administration’s opposition to Obamacare Medicaid expansion.
For Freedom,
JC Hernandez
