AFP-Utah Issues Statement on Utah Education Association Anti-School Choice Lawsuit
SALT LAKE CITY, UT – Following the Utah Education Association’s announcement on Wednesday of their lawsuit to stop Utah’s scholarship program, the Utah Fits All Scholarship, Americans for Prosperity – Utah (AFP-UT) is doubling-down in support of school choice and highlighting the union’s regressive positions.
AFP-UT State Director, Kevin Greene, gave the following statement:
“This UEA lawsuit is a misguided and brash attempt by the union to empower themselves and take away parents’ agency in choosing the best education options for their children.
“The Utah Fits All Scholarship program is equal to roughly 1% of public education funding, which receives increases nearly every year.
“As the state’s premier grassroots organization, we know better than anyone how popular school choice is with Utah families, and how out of touch the UEA is from what’s best for students.
“AFP-UT stands with students and their families and will fight alongside Governor Spencer Cox and allies in the legislature to make sure Utah students retain their freedom to chart their own path in education.”
