AFP: U.S-China Trade Talks a Step in Right Direction

Sep 13, 2018 by AFP

ARLINGTON, Va. – Following news reports of developing U.S.-China trade talks to deescalate a harmful trade war, Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips issued the following statement:

“The consequences of increasingly-strained relations with our largest trading partner are vast and serious – businesses withholding investment, workers losing jobs, and rising prices on common goods for Americans who can least afford it – so we are pleased by these new developments and hopeful that emerging discussions are in a collective effort to reach a zero-tariffs goal. We encourage the administration and China to seize on this opportunity, as the growing trade war stands in direct conflict to the best interests of both nations – a sentiment clearly shared on both sides. While the administration deserves enormous credit for jumpstarting our economy, American workers and businesses harmed by self-destructive trade measures are counting on a speedy, equitable deescalation of this trade war.”
