AFP-TN: Corporate Welfare, So Nashville

May 8, 2018 by AFP

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Americans for Prosperity-Tennessee (AFP-TN) released the following statement following news of Wall Street firm AllianceBernstein moving its headquarters to Nashville and that the company is in discussions with the city of Nashville to receive an incentive package at the taxpayers’ expense.

Americans for Prosperity-Tennessee State Director Tori Venable had this to say:

“Politicians in Nashville have squandered our city’s economic boon by giving taxpayer-funded handouts to politically-connected companies. Corporate welfare like this has cost our city millions, if not billions of dollars in recent years. Amid the current Nashville budget crisis and failure to keep priorities in check we are calling on state and local government officials to reject any further tax incentives. When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.”
