Grassroots group comments on property tax relief, school finance reform
AUSTIN, Texas – With only a few days left of the legislative session, lawmakers have come to an agreement to overhaul Texas’ public education system while providing meaningful property tax relief. Following the Big 3’s press conference to announce the reforms, Americans for Prosperity-Texas State Director Jerome Greener issued the following statement:
“AFP-Texas is grateful to Governor Abbott, Lieutenant Governor Patrick, and Speaker Bonnen for delivering on their promise to provide historic property tax reform, significant property tax relief, and to improve educational outcomes through increased funding transparency. By revamping our property tax system, the legislature can now deliver over $5 billion in meaningful property tax relief, as well as allow Texans to have a greater say with how much more government they want and are willing to pay for.”
