AUSTIN, TX – Americans for Prosperity-Texas (AFP-TX) announced today it will support State Representatives Morgan Meyer (HD-108) and Angie Chen Button (HD-112) in their bids for reelection to the Texas House of Representatives.
As the state’s largest grassroots organization, AFP-TX has a long history of successfully mobilizing activists and volunteers across the state to help win competitive races and elect principled lawmakers to defend Lone Star values in office.
Morgan Meyer, the House Ways & Means Committee chairman, is a champion for economic freedom and fiscal responsibility in Texas, who has led efforts to pass over $18 billion in property tax reductions while in office. In addition to his consistent support for lowering taxes each year, Meyer has been a strong advocate for deregulation and shrinking the administrative state so that Texas remains the freest state in the Union.
Angie Chen Button is Chair of the International Relations and Economic Development Committee and a member of the Ways and Means Committee, where she has championed efforts to pass major spending reforms and property tax reductions. She is a no-nonsense lawmaker who has held the line on school choice and will help education savings accounts cross the finish line next year.
AFP-TX State Director, Genevieve Collins, gave the following statement:
“Over the past year, AFP-TX has been a key player in helping elect a majority of solutions-oriented candidates prepared to take on our state’s toughest policy fights. Meyer and Chen Button will get to work on day one to ease the burden on taxpayers and unleash prosperity and opportunity for more Texans.
“Our team, leading the largest army of grassroots activists in Texas history, will work around the clock to make sure voters have trusted leaders in the state House who will make their voices heard and stand up to the status quo.”
