AFP-Texas Announces Three New Endorsements for State House

Jul 25, 2024 by AFP

AUSTIN, TX – Americans for Prosperity-Texas (AFP-TX) announced today that it will support Ben Bumgarner, Steve Kinard, and Marc LaHood in their bids for the state House of Representatives. The announcement follows AFP-TX’s successful primary election season, with 19 endorsed candidates winning their races thanks to the support of AFP-TX’s statewide army of grassroots activists.

These principled leaders will get to work on day one to unleash prosperity and pass key reforms on Texas’ tax code and health care system. AFP-TX is especially excited to partner with them in passing Governor Greg Abbott’s Education Savings Account (ESA) legislation.

AFP-TX State Director, Genevieve Collins, gave the following statement:

“One race at a time, AFP-TX is helping give Texans the kind of representation they deserve in the state House by backing principled conservatives who will fight for Texas values even when their party wavers. Universal school choice for Texas is within reach in 2025, and we will have zero tolerance for anyone who votes against it.”

“We’re confident that our strong presence in these districts will be the deciding factor in these competitive races.”

Endorsed Candidates

State Rep. Ben Bumgarner (HD-63): Bumgarner was a vocal proponent of passing ESAs last year who will help get it across the finish line once reelected. Bumgarner is a rising star who was also a driving force on taxation and spending reforms during his first term in office, building on his history of successful tax cuts as a former city councilman.

Steve Kinard (non-incumbent, HD-70): As a homeschool parent himself, Steve Kinard knows the importance of protecting the rights of parents to choose the education path that best suits their children. In addition to partnership with AFP-TX to pass universal school choice, Kinard is a technology entrepreneur and small business owner who will be a strong advocate for growing Texas’ booming economy and technology sector.

Marc LaHood (non-incumbent, HD-121): LaHood is an energetic newcomer who is running to fight for school choice, lowering property taxes, and securing the U.S.-Mexico border. His background as a defense lawyer makes him the right choice for Texans who want to see law and order restored on the border and in our cities.
