Augusta, Maine — Today, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) calls out Governor Janet Mills and state lawmakers for advancing a misguided data center moratorium that threatens to derail economic growth, kill jobs, and send investment fleeing out of state.
AFP Northeast Region Director Ross Connolly said:
“Today, Maine advanced a data center moratorium that undercuts the state’s economic potential and signals it is closed to innovation. Data centers represent a critical opportunity for Maine to revitalize underused industrial sites, create jobs, and establish a foothold in the rapidly growing AI economy. But rather than embracing that opportunity, policymakers are signaling uncertainty and hostility toward investment.
“AFP is frustrated that the legislative majority is choosing to stand in the way of investment instead of competing for it, and we call on Governor Mills to veto this bill that will undermine Maine’s economic competitiveness and discourage job creation. We remain committed to pushing for solutions that will put Maine back on a path to growth.”
In case you missed it, Connolly penned a piece in the Wall Street Journal on Maine’s data center ban.
